Day 4: Sleep is for the weak
I wrote "Cambridge" this summer when I was traveling in Costa Rica with one of my favorite people. We did a lot of talking when we were there(especially because we were unable to converse with anyone else in the country) -- about life and love and all those cheesy and wonderful things , and I ended up writing this song on her behalf.
Before i get too far in, keep in mind that it's 3:35AM and I am slightly delirious, so this blog may very well get kooky.
I am supposed to wake up for work at 5-- right now, that is hilarious to me. haha.
Ok, I have an important announcement I'd like to make:
My friend Mat Morgan organized and produced a benefit CD entitled "Band Together: To Fight Measles" and as of a few days ago it is officially up on iTunes! This is for SUCH and amazing cause and I am so proud of Mat and so honored to be a part of it.
For US$9.99, you can download twelve songs donated by Southern California artists (including me!) One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Measles Initiative in order to vaccinate children in the developing world, saving up to seven lives with each purchase!! That is so unbelievable to me! Please check out www.measlesinitiative.org for more information on the campaign.
My song "Down and Gone" is track two! All the songs on the cd are originals by really talented artists, not to mention wonderful people.
Please take a moment to sample it on iTunes. If you like it, buy it. If you love it, buy it for your friends and family. ALL the money goes to the cause. That's almost unheard of.
Some more really awesome news:
If you happened to be watching General Hospital today, that was me singing during Jason and Elizabeth's make out scene! Ohhh yeah. You can hear the full song "Ours to Keep" on my myspace (www.myspace.com/kinagrannis) or search for it on You Tube.
Oh, and sleep is actually really really good for you. I was just trying to make myself feel better. But, to prove my official stance on sleep, I am now going to attempt to take an hour long nap before work.
Ideas? Requests? Questions? Post them as comments and who knows, they could end up as tomorrow's video blog!signing out--

Kina, if you need to record anything for the contest, and want to use the studio for free, feel free to email me.
Sorry I didn't email back sooner, but I have been really busy organizing everything with the record label for the last week, and things have been crazy. 18 hour work days are only fun up to a certain point.
I also have a friend that works with video, so he may have some free time to do some videos, if you are needing any done.
Good luck with the contest, and the First Response Recording Cooperative is behind you 100%
