Back to The O.C.
Hey, all!
I'm sorry about skipping out of another current video. I'm still recuperating from the shoot on Friday and I needed a recharge before I sat in front of a camera again. This song was the first song I ever wrote. It's about my all-time favorite stuffed animal, Teeny Bear. Apparently he liked to eat salmon. In my head.
And woah! I need some teeth.
I'm getting pumped for another cd packaging party later today. Woohoo! They'll go out on Monday.
kina
@ompa
yesterday's song is on a chinese version of youtube??
@withyouimelt
i am so glad you have enjoyed my music! "ours to keep" willbe available on itunes as soon as abc decides to put it up. thank you for writing!
@ompa and tim
as for signed cds, if you want to shoot me an email at kina@kinagrannis.com and make a request, i would gladly sign your cd. i don't sign them normally because, well, that may look a little presumptuous. haha
@chrissy from long island
thank you and all your friends for your support!
@qwest905
your friend's buy you a drank cover is awesome. and, PAT!! hello :)
@potato
i think you are my favorite potato ever.
@anonymous (there were a lot of you yesterday, so I'm clumping you into one person)
re: the beginning- haha. it was late and i was not meeting my standards. after watching me start and stop a million times and seeing how silly it looks, i figured i'd leave it in for your amusement.
re: regular people hours-- of COURSE not! that'd spoil all the fun of nocturnalism. :) i was a little too worn to write it last night though, i uploaded the video around 2:30am and youtube decided it'd take like an hour to load it. not cool!

Lol, fun video, sounds like your first interview. Better get used to it with all the fame you're about to get :-)
Oh, and great that you're willing to sign the CDs, I really need to get around ordering mine, probably directly from you now since I'd love for you to sign them.
Greets from Austria
BTW: I sure do still open my emails at this point ;-)
Hi Kina! I thought you were too busy until you stop posting videos :(
I waited the whole day (Saturday) for the video and there was none..
Well, you posted Saturday's video at 3.50 pm (which is 5.50am,Sunday here in Malaysia, so my Saturday went without Kina's video, sigh..)
But that's alright :))
I understand, you're busy now making that awesome music video :D
Plus, today I get to watch two videos! lol :D
Though, come to think of it, when you win the superbowl contest, eventually, you'll become a famous star ( a very famous one), then I predict you won't have the time to blog anymore and post more videos
:(
But then, I'll get to see you on TV, right? :)))
I think I wrote too much, you must be tired reading it! I'll stop here, go get some rest Kina!
Bye.
I was just wondering, will the original songs posted here ever make it onto a CD? Such as Genevieve? I've grown somewhat attached to the song, but having to be near a computer (youtube) to listen to it is somewhat... limiting.
As for the youtube thing, I was just stupid. It's just the tw.youtube.com site. For some reason it didn't quite hit me that it's the same site, just translated. Again, I apologize for my stupidity.
Hey! There's "Girl on the Left" from the DIGG video... she was even on the left back then!
Very Cute.
Are you really willing to sign the cds? Cause when i order them, which will be soon. I would love to have them signed. Okay Now I need to go recoperate from a weekend babysitting a hyperactive 5 year old.
Have fun.
-Jen-
That was really cute! Can we see Teeny Bear in your next video?
And "The O.C.?" You told me real Orange County people don't use that ;)
Saying "OC" is one of those things... you rolled your eyes and shook your head when they coined the term, but it's admittedly catchy and soon, much to your dismay, you find yourself using it. And let's face it, we're basically lazy and it's easier to say "OC" than "Orange County".
I think the most important question that hasn't been asked today is - Will "Teeny Bear Goes Sailing" be on the next CD? :)
Or maybe work in the phrase "at the lake" into a new song ;)
Haha, nice video! Its so cool how your willing to share some of your personal home videos with the rest of the world! I think what that songs needs is some dumbs. Then it would be killer! MTV here Teeny bear comes..
lol...
C ya Teeny Keeny.. hehe
J.C.
Another brief question; do you have any just acoustic versions of your songs for sale anywhere? Given, I do enjoy the versions you have on your CD's, but I have to admit the ones you have on your blog/youtube do interest me a bit more.
Lol, I should really stop causing so much controversy on the crash the super bowl comment page, but I do love how they just ignored me asking for the rhetorical devices I used.
Anyway, cool video, wish I had some of myself from my younger days...
Signing out from Canada,
~Ted
Bear by a lake, huh?
I'm excited to see your shots of the video. What happens to your video if you place 2nd or 3rd? Go Secular Alliance!
Jeez Ben,
Have you no confidence that Kina will win? C'mon, of course she will win, shes Kina... =D
Haha, just playin ben..
Kina, who owns the rights to your video, do you or do Doritos? Also, isn't it just a 60 second clip that will be played during the super bowl? So how are they going to get it to all fit in with out it seeming odd?
Secular Alliance??
I think the video will be edited in a way that'd work for a minute slot, and the full video would go along with the Single of the song
Like intro --> 1st verse --> chorus --> Doritos logo
time for a rhyme!
come and get your vote on/

KINA - did u get my facebook message? i wasn't trying to be forward at all, i really only asked because i also consider myself as a musician, and i really sincerely am "networking" . like i have my own cd, and manCHILD from marsILL is on it, and manCHILD did a collab with capadonna from WU-TANG. so therefore, i am two degrees from WU-TANG hahahaha. but yeah i obviously didn't ask here in this public forum what i asked for via facbeook... eh heh?!
but yeah, check ur facebook message - also i can make a little short 30 second video for that rap i wrote above to a hot beat and u can get more votes??
GOD BLESS
Miko ur new favorite rapper (totally kidding)
Po' Kina -
I have a request. The earliest song I remember hearing you play was "Young Pilgrams" by the shins in New/North with Jason freshman year. So long ago!
I'd like to hear that one if you get to it.

Anteater
"A genuine anteater,"
The pet man told me dad.
Turned out, it was an aunt eater,
And now my uncle's mad!
good luck!
your mother is real encouraging to you as you showed your talent for singing and composing at such a young age. what does she do? is she also musical? i can see a music stand in the background. also i see a young,but older boy next to you. i can tell you have two younger sisters. big family?
jim
you got some mad skillz miko
but these rhymes echo
throughout eternity
they be talking bout me
way back in the day
tomorrow six ways from saturday
my story like sparta
goes on like the magna carta
i pass into legend and fade into myth
tell me can you compare with this
i'm a ghost in the shadows
but my words they still matter
you could say i've achieved
immortality weaved
in the hearts and minds of men
tell me son what then
so now ima bring it down
without limit or bound
all cards on the table foo
now it's all on you
... No disrespect to hip-hop at all, but: Why do so many rappers only rap about how awesome they are? That's like a webpage that only talks about how awesome its tags are but has no real content. I HATE those pages!
example:
"this style's so fly
it took ages to make.
I got rollover pr0n,
all you got is - LINE BREAK"
(maybe then you throw you keyboard at the other person you're battling...)
mad skillz.
KINA,
I think your song is cool (you should give it an update after almost two decades). It's got a crazy minor feel to it - I totally thought this was going to be about Teeny Bear's unfortunate demise at the lake. I also liked that the bridge was only half as long as each verse (is that why Misa looks so surprised at the end?). Bold musicology. Well done.
@steveg
it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek seeing as how it was posted under anonymous ;)
apparently i rap
but i thought it was rhymes
old skool what's that?
i wear the bling-bling fine
but my momma tells me now
quit your playin' son
go to bed and how
i be poppin' n lockin'
in front of the mirror
tin foil on my grill
peewee, the holy terror
nerdiest lil pill
this side of the hills
i figure the last one was sufficiently self-deprecatory to offset the first one :P
