Life Goes On?

*blog updated! scroll down*

hey all!

ok, this isn't my real entry! tonight i got pretty busy getting ready for phoenix and updating the twoweeks website, so i was unable to record the video to post at my normal 2-5am time. BUT, i am going to post the video today! first i just need to sleep some. and then wake up some, and get that awful morning voice out of my system (tends to last a while for me).

also, i started reading the comments from yesterday's post, but, to be completely honest, they started to make my cry, so i will read them all and respond to them later today when i re-post with the video! i feel like i have the world's best supporters. i am just so lucky.

i'm still in disbelief that the voting is over. someone out there in the world knows who the winner is. !?!?

oh yes, and my uber cool news!?? i'll save it for when i repost. i'm feeling a little cold coming on again. i canNOT get sick again. no way.

hearts and smiles and hugs,
me.

-----------------
REAL ENTRY STARTS HERE:
-----------------

oh boy! i'm sorry it took me so long to get the video up today! i don't even know what i was doing.

ok, here is my exciting news!!
*****EXCITING NEWS TIMEEEEEEEE****
(i had to add that in for people that weren't paying attention)

so i have just been informed that this saturday, the day before the super bowl (feb 2), the other two crash the super bowl finalists (landon and nivla) and myself will all be performing our submission songs ... opening for the COUNTING CROWS... with an expected attendance of 20-30,000 people!!! ahhhhhh!! *faints* it's a free outside show in tempe, az called the "nfl block party". if only i could upload some sort of worm-hole time-warp that you could all jump through so you could attend. *sigh*. someday.

and speaking of someday, this spring, regardless of what happens with the contest, win or lose, i WILL be recording a new cd and *hopefully* will start to get a little tour action going on. i shall keep you posted!

Whether you win or lose the competition, I loved the fact that you did this for the past months. I have enjoyed listening to your music and hope that you will continue to be as awesome as you have been. Best of luck to you and keep up the good work.

Kina, you are the bomb, home skillet. It's been years since I've really fell in love with a solo artist. I've been enjoying the drives to and from work listening to your music every day. I can't believe the voting's over, and I can't wait for your exciting news. The whole world is waiting to see all the beautiful things you have to offer. Just don't lose your health, OK. We need bouncing gummy bear Kina to pick us up each week. But please don't feel pressured to blog even every week. Even a Cookie Monster can't have too many cookies (does that make sense, I dunno, forgive me it's 5:30am here). Cookies and gummy bears, I must have the munchies. Have a great trip to Phoenix ;)

No tears. We're not dead yet :p So no need to talk in the past. Let's talk in the present and the future. It's like having been pregnant for months. You're losing your belly alright. But that's not an end. It's the start of a new life. And there's no rift either. It will just go on smoothly. You're here. We're here. Nothing's changed. Don't you put a question mark after "life goes on" like you wanna ask us if we're still friends!
So as for your fans, well, it's just like the rest. You get what you deserve, though I must admit we all feel like we know each other, we share something important. That probably makes you even more special. You gather people. Something we miss terribly nowadays. The incredible thing is that at any time of the day, somewhere on this planet, there's someone waking up, or going to bed, driving to work or back home, singing (out of tune) in their shower one of your songs. We're from every continent, but we're all here or with you as well. See? For you it's 6am. For me it's 2pm. But I'm here.
OK. This may sound like an AA reunion, but I love your posts not only for you, but also for all the comments you get that I love to read.
You really rock and we love you. But don't be too emotional about it, or we're going to cry as well. Ah! ah!
Lots of love. And SHUT DOWN THE DAMN COMPUTER AND GO GET SOME SLEEP FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

Best of Luck to you!

P.S. if ever in the LongBeach/LA area, and have some free time in the future, I'm a photographer and would love to do some really cool pictures for you.....

Kina,

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear the uber exciting cool news.. I wonder what it could be? Ehh well, I will find out soon enough..

I am saddened that this is seemingly the last blog post of the past, where we have all been able to talk to you and have you talk back. Whilst I would like to tell my self that we will be able to continue our conversations, it just can't be. Any way you look at it, there will be so many new people in your life and here on the blog, there is no way you can still give the personal replies we have all become accustomed to. I will really miss that. I have had such a great time talking with you Kina, its been a blast!

So, in that sense, good bye. I will still be here, reading and watching as you make your way to the top.. It just wont be the same though..

I will miss you Kina, I really will..

J.C.

P.S. Sorry if this is all a little dramatic, once you get me on a keyboard theres no stopping me.. :)

Much love and hugs,

Kina,

Wow! You do realize that, Superbowl or not, you have done something wonderful - you have connected with people! Who needs record companies and promotions specialists when we have the ability to reach eachother through mediums that connect artist to potential fans like YouTube...etc.

Lastly, on a more personal note, I am a huge Jason Mraz fan and I came by you through your cover of After an Afternoon. I have to tell you that it's rare to hear someone do a Mraz song better than Mraz. Thank you! I wish I had an Mp3 of you singing that song.

Best wishes and huge props!

I heard about you on Digg but honestly, I ignored the digg song. I thought it's just another lame song. Good thing there was another digg story about you where it says that you might get a record deal and that's when I became curious. After I heard the Digg song, I fell in love. You had me at "gotta digg". Goodluck Kina!

if you're interested, we'll continue this chat over email: tbarrios@nd.edu
thanks! and keep rockin! cant wait to see your video during the superbowl!!!! :-D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ9qftQANpY
in the value and src fields while the good videos are of the form
http://youtube.com/v/48HSbpiMaF4; so I guess the bad one should be changed to "http://youtube.com/v/TQ9qftQANpY" in the two spots where it's there.

Good luck opening for Counting Crows! Am I the only one who found it funny after the crow conversation?

@Tim: Re- Crows

I think that's what the guy was actually asking about. I remember reading somewhere that the three contestants would be opening for Counting Crows a bit before I saw that question.

I took it for granted that she knew but I guess no one informed Kina of it!

His response to her non-CC related response was something like "Oh, I meant another *kind* of Crow... oh well." ;)

@ expert hacker- if Landon received the most votes, he deserves to win this contest because he will have proven that the has a large and devoted fan base that is ready to propel him into a successful music career. I happen to think he's a very talented musician (even though Kina's my girl!). However, you seem to be suggesting he will win through devious hacking which is, I'm sure, NOT what Landon would want...he seems like an honest person. So, if Landon wins, we will surmise he did so because you clever hackers put him into the winner's position. Anyway, it's out of our hands now. May the best man/girl/men win.... or maybe I should say "may the person with the most efficient and creative vote- procuring system win".

Whichever way this contest plays out, all three groups will have benefited greatly from the exposure, so I like to think it's a win-win situation.

I think every country airs it with their own commercials, so only the viewers in usa will see the doritos commercial.
BUT Kina said it seems the doritos commercial will be the first advertisement after the first quarter, so i see a big chance of that we well get a closeup picture on the winner before and/or after the commercial brake (meaning: in the international programme)

Did You Know?

Kina shares her birthday with U.S. Senator Barack Obama, who also hopes to gain more votes than someone from New York this coming week.

been awhile since ive commented so maybe ill just make this a long one. i just wanted to tell brother gene parmesan that i did know kina shared her birthday with barry and i dont think i am being out of line if i ask my brothers and sisters here if they will consider voting for him. i can vouch on his behalf that he genuinely is a good man and he is not involved in any way with the old fashioned style of corrupt washington politics.

i believe and have faith in a world repaired, a world restored, and ending the common threats of the 21st century in order to bring more global peace (emphasis on more) because we will never be completely safe and it would be naive to assume each and every individual will live in peace.

with that said, the goal here is to extend a welcome hand and embracing our friends as well as our enemies to create a majority in pursuit of the medium.

still, we can't miscalculate. there are those who pose serious threats. enemies who are soo (a kina word) vile and reprehensible that there is no commonplace to which we can make an accord; that is the gift and the curse of free will.

there is a reason why our forefathers set various principles in our constitution such as that of age in order to be eligible to be the president of the united states. "be at lest 35 yrs old". they recognized that at age 35 and older, that person has reached the capacity as to who they are and what they represent. if they are manipulative and calculating, they are manipulative and calculating. if they are friendly and generous, they are friendly and generous. that person most likely knows what they personify.

this is important to recognize because there are enemies who are still too young to realize that what they are doing is wrong and there is a chance that they will change dramatically at some point before complete maturation. whether it is by some life changing event or simply being guided to the light, their hearts have not completely hardened. we cannot give up on them and i vow that i never will.

i will conclude by saying there is a logical explaination for everything. there is factual proof for most things. i wish that more people kept an open mind and thought things over but i dont demand it. i could say that i was fortunate and unfortunate to find myself in numerous situations other have not. this is my gift and my curse. this is why barry (i still call him barry haha) will make a good president, hes been in situations that gave him insight and experience to be a great president the same way i gained knowledge from the top to the bottom. if you read this all, i commend you for taking the time haha and i really appreciate it. i may be a stranger to you or maybe you will recognize who i am or have, in the same breath, gained insight on me.

Uh oh... I see some political talks starting to creep in. 'Twas only a matter of time..

Let the mudslinging begin...

:(

yeah dude, the Obama advertisement was very non sequiter. This should be a place where we discuss how Kina is badass and such. If real estate, conspiracy theories, and politics are what you want to talk about, then go on weblogs/forums where it is appropriate to talk about that kind of stuff. Anyone else agree?

I say let's keep the focus of this blog somewhat more Kina-oriented. We're getting hit with a barrage of political perspectives already everywhere we turn.... do we really need to be exposed to it here too? Thanks for sharing, but another forum might be more appropriate.

@ajsea.... you don't REALLY think you're the only one who returns here on a daily basis, do you? Not only do I return here every day, I check back about 5 times a day.. okay, about 10-15 times a day...well, in actuality, every 5 minutes or so.....

hey, that video has clips that are coincidentally pretty close to being 1 minute each for all of them and look like they could actually be the commercial? or something quite similar, with Doritos logos and all.

all the clips look really good (Kina's is my favorite though for obvious reasons ♥)

I have mainly been a lurker, but even so, the DTs have got me bad. I check at least 5 times a day. OK, really, about 10 to 15 times a day.

Go Kina!!! Go Kina!!!

i agree with miso soup i think since kina is temporarily sidelined what else but to engage in other hot topics. no offense to travis and i got the dts and all the names i keep seeing when i come around all the time too, but life is more substance than kina kina kina. if people are going to talk superbowl, im game. if people are going to talk politics bring on that bacon. if obama does share the same birthday as kina i dont see how its unrelated anyways. and kina did indeed endorse ron paul in her gotta digg video. this doesnt seem non sequitur to me.

The Giants are going to Win. Eli Manning is hot and sexy! Hes my baby and hes way better than tom brady. Plus theres never been a more physical dominant imposing defense in a long time since the steel curtain steelers of the 80's. You must be crazy if you think the Giants will lose when they have Strahan, Umenyiora,Madison, Pierce and my favorite Justin Tuck!New York is the best in sports like Kina Grannis is the best in music!!

in regards to politics i gotta say that it is your duty to vote. some of you are just turing 18-20 so take advantage of your liberties. if you are older you know the drill, this is your moral obligation. if you didnt vote in previous elections that you were eligible for then shame on you, but you could make it right this time. if you are still too young grow up!
