It's funny, in one of my classes today the teacher played the ads that aired yesterday and your song was one of them. I sat for a second wondering if I should have said something since the whole class had a "who the hell is she" expression on their faces. Although they enjoyed the song. Congrats.

Seconds left in the 1st quarter...Then, and then, I see...... A squirrel.. Ok, that's not kina...It was a cute commercial though... Then I hear your guitar...YAY SHE WON!!! How ever I had to keep it to myself .. .Umm seeing a 30 year old man get all gitty in a sports bar is not quite accepted here yet... Yeah, evolution has skipped a few generations here:) So anyway.. kina....I think you might be famous... (below fergie on the interscope artists page) I'm still not sure yet (of course you could probably be a #1 hit and i still wouldn't think you're famous) ahhh! Kelly and I were both watching and got tears in our eyes. Every time I re-watch it I do again. Right when it says "the biggest stage possible" and you hear your guitar. And the end when it says "the rest is up to you" I'm seriously so thankful for Doritos to have given you this one push that allowed you to get so much recognition for your talent. I don't think I'll ever comprehend that 90 Million!! (almost a third of the U.S.!) saw you playing :) Oh and I am so jealous you are eating sushi...dorm food not so good. And emi hi!!!! It was posted on January 31. And they actually play the real SuperBowl ad right up to the first part of "Message from Your Heart". I feel sort of stupid now, they actually leaked who the winner was. I guess we wouldn't have known for sure. Oh well, nothing can be more dramatic then watching it live during the superbowl!

I contacted the on-air folks at KINK 102 FM in Portland! And they agree, Kina's an amazing discovery, the kind you can't keep to yourself. Hopefully soon we'll hear "Message from Your Heart" on the air faster than the Interscope machine can say listen! Her video is on the radio station's website...

@jesse b - You're absolutely right, they leaked the winner with the bit of guitar on the last phrase. I saw the video before the superbowl, but didn't notice until now. Good ear!
For the kinaddicts, I found a couple old videos on myspacetv of Kina performing live. I post links in the most recent entry.
As you might imagine, Kina is going insane right now with so much going on with Interscope, Doritos, interviews, business decisions, not to mention that mountain of cd sales she has to pack, mail, and ship! (you have to cut her some slack on the cd shipments... she splurged some of her hard-earned contest winnings on getting the cds commercially burned, printed and encased.... and the company put the cds in the wrong jewel cases!!!!! We'll have to switch them by hand, which is quite labor-intensive and annoying since buying them was supposed to make this process EASIER)
She is anxious to edit and post her footage of Phoenix for y'all (been around Landon too much) but you're just going to have to wait a little longer.
Just to tide you over, let me say that the Grannis fam spent the weekend in Phoenix and those Doritos people and all the non-Doritos-but-also-essential-to-the-success-of-the-contest people were totally DOPE (been around Raj too long). How they amassed such amazing,cool people all on one project is inconceivable. Everyone was the nicest, coolest, most fun, most sincere, most talented, etc etc... well, you get what I'm saying...
We got to meet Nivla, P. Oberoi, DJ Sharad, producer/promoter Raj, photographer Ravi, and producer Josh who were all so much fun!! And from the Austin camp: Landon, his sister, Dani, mom, dad, aunt and uncle who were the friendliest people on earth.
Seriously, people.... Kina could not have asked for greater "competitors". These guys were absolute gems. I knew them for only 3 days and I love them all! There was some negativity amongst the fans but between the Nivla gang, Landon, and Kina, there was a lot of respect, admiration, and dare I say it? ....love.*sigh*
I want to provide more details, but I'd best leave that to Kina.
