first i just want to say again that i am obsessed with all of you. jeez!

two videos, one day!? crazy, no? my cousin sent me that video from the viewing party they all had last sunday and every time i watch it i start crying. i have the best family in the world. i really think so. they are all so supportive and amazing and excited for me. THANK YOU to all my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents. mwahhhh!

ok--i need all of your help and opinion here. so i'm trying to streamline my online "presence" if you will. the main websites i have are kinagrannis.com (soon to have a makeover), twoweeks (and more importantly, the blog), myspace, and youtube. it's just so fragmented and i'd imagine a little difficult for people just discovering my music, because they dont know where to go. myspace and youtube are of course essential and will continue on. i've had suggestions though to move THIS blog community over to my website kinagrannis.com. it'd be the same deal, but through that one, and no longer entitled twoweeksforkina. i wouldn't delete this blog because it is way to special, but it'd be more of a memento and less of anything that is ever updated.... on the one hand i know that combining my sites and refocusing on my main website makes a lot of sense, on the other hand, i get all sentimental about this blog and it seems sad to leave it. really though, nothing much would change except the location and design of the blog. am i being silly? how do you all feel about that, because that's what really matters?

i wonder how many kina blog lurkers there are out there?

i am so sorry i have been so absent this week! i've been wanting to get on and read through and reply to all your comments all week but things have been completely crazy and nonstop. i don't have time to look over them today but i just wanted to stop in briefly before the big moment to re-emphasize how completely grateful i am to have been supported by such an amazing community of people. thank you all so much for all of your encouragement and support and i please know that regardless of the outcome, things will be going up, and having made it this far is winning enough for me.

hey all!

ok, this isn't my real entry! tonight i got pretty busy getting ready for phoenix and updating the twoweeks website, so i was unable to record the video to post at my normal 2-5am time. BUT, i am going to post the video today! first i just need to sleep some. and then wake up some, and get that awful morning voice out of my system (tends to last a while for me).

also, i started reading the comments from yesterday's post, but, to be completely honest, they started to make my cry, so i will read them all and respond to them later today when i re-post with the video! i feel like i have the world's best supporters. i am just so lucky.

i'm still in disbelief that the voting is over. someone out there in the world knows who the winner is. !?!?

oh yes, and my uber cool news!?? i'll save it for when i repost. i'm feeling a little cold coming on again. i canNOT get sick again. no way.

oh boy! i'm sorry it took me so long to get the video up today! i don't even know what i was doing.

ok, here is my exciting news!!
*****EXCITING NEWS TIMEEEEEEEE****
(i had to add that in for people that weren't paying attention)

so i have just been informed that this saturday, the day before the super bowl (feb 2), the other two crash the super bowl finalists (landon and nivla) and myself will all be performing our submission songs ... opening for the COUNTING CROWS... with an expected attendance of 20-30,000 people!!! ahhhhhh!! *faints* it's a free outside show in tempe, az called the "nfl block party". if only i could upload some sort of worm-hole time-warp that you could all jump through so you could attend. *sigh*. someday.

and speaking of someday, this spring, regardless of what happens with the contest, win or lose, i WILL be recording a new cd and *hopefully* will start to get a little tour action going on. i shall keep you posted!

wow... can you believe this?? 6 weeks of craziness... and now...???

i leave for phoenix on tuesday. the other 2 contestants and myself will be having lots of press-related meetings and fun dinners throughout the week (and lovely days that begin at 4:30 am!!!). somehow i need to completely flip my sleeping schedule in two days.

so after much debate, i've decided that i'm going to post again tomorrow. for now, we'll say i'll post every monday, but if i have more time, i will post in between as well :) i have some reallllly exciting news, but i'm going to save it for tomorrow!!

THIS IS IT! The video that could possibly air during the super bowl!! (Though not in it's entirety). It was SO weird for me to watch if for the first time today. I kind of forgot it was me I was watching.

Anyway-- Today I am playing a show at my High School! Exciting, yes, but let me take a moment to be completely honest with you.

I am so scared.

Yes, high schoolers can intimidate me. They might enjoy the show... or they might think I am the stupidest person ever. And once you are deemed uncool by a high school student... well jeez, there is no hope. I do have some friends there. They are amazing and supportive and I love them. I can only hope there are a few more like them out there. High school! Ahh!!

Wow. Don't get my wrong, I am really excited. I know I'll have fun with it. Maybe I'm scared because I'm playing where all the cool kids used to hang out at lunch. I would imagine all the cool kids still hang there... what if they can tell I'm not as cool as them?!

Haha. Oh life is so entertaining.

cool news! i just heard from doritos that my music video for "message from your heart" is on its way and that i'll be allowed to share it with all of you on my site! i still haven't seen the finished product so i am sooo excited.

i can't believe there are only 5 days left of voting. it feels like this contest is my life now. what will happen afterwards? what will my purpose be??

today it was very sad looking in los angeles. cloudy, drippy, coldish. yes, it could be worse, it could be ACTUAL weather conditions.... but for southern california it's a little :( especially when i REALLY wanted to go frolic outside today. shame.

I miss singing! I remember as a kid half-enjoying being sick because it meant I didn't have to do ANYTHING except eat jello and watch TV. NOW, being sick means no singing, and no singing means very very sad times. And when I don't sing, I tend to not play guitar, and when I tend to not play guitar, all the calluses on my fingers decide to fall off. :( I know, there are worse things. But still.

Today is another CD party. I hope to get through another chunk of orders.

Ok, no more dilly-dallying. There is rest to be had.

hey everyone. i was worrying all day about how i was going to post something today, and then i found a video i decided not to post... so i'll post it today! this was from like 3 weeks ago or something.

Hippety! My mom made these shirts back in the day. Again, to my left is Misa, the older sister, and to my right is Emi, my younger sister. Why are we always in that order? Starting to weird me out a little!

You may recognize Hippety Heart from such videos as "Message From Your Heart." Maybe it is all thanks to Hippety that I wrote this song.

WOW. I am so dead. Yoga seems so lovely and gentle, and then BAM, you're crippled, just like that.

Ok, I admit, that wasn't a fair review. The truth is, yoga is actually pretty darn awesome, but it's so awesome that it kills me. And perhaps I could be in slightly better shape as well...

I was going to do "LA: Part II" and finish it all up for today, but I am way too dead from yoga. So instead of having an "LA: Part II", I'm now going to have "Making the Video" (Parts I & II).

hey everyone!

i was going to post second (and final) part of my LA trip tonight... but I figured I'd draw it out a little and make it a little more suspenseful. Not that this is suspenseful at all... but yeah. Instead, I felt some music was needed. I wrote this song ("Never Never") 4 years ago, and while I don't often play it at shows anymore, somehow it's still always felt as real to me when I play it as when I wrote it. Some songs get stale, or I get sick of them, or I realize they're just plain bad... I don't know what the deal is with this one. It's not my best song, musically or lyrically, but i think the emotion I put into it was captured in the overall feel of the song and that's why it still feels the same to me. Sometimes it's really hard to accurately reflect your intended emotion in a song, it can easily get warped or lost altogether.

i knowwww, a part 3, 4, 5, etc would have been so cool, but i was lame and i squished everything but the LAST day in LA into part 1, so if i were to break up the remaining footage into multiple parts... they'd likely be pretty lame. hopefully something else happens that requires parts someday.

Hey, all!

I'm sorry about skipping out of another current video. I'm still recuperating from the shoot on Friday and I needed a recharge before I sat in front of a camera again. This song was the first song I ever wrote. It's about my all-time favorite stuffed animal, Teeny Bear. Apparently he liked to eat salmon. In my head.

And woah! I need some teeth.

I'm getting pumped for another cd packaging party later today. Woohoo! They'll go out on Monday.

I'm sorry I was unable to post at 2am PST like normal! The video shoot went until about 2am and by the time I got home I had just enough in me to do the video blog and crash. The music video shoot was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had. At one point there were about 50 people on set... ALL working on this video... for MY song! What is that?? Everyone was amazingly nice too. I'm going to put up some footage from the week in a few days once I can edit it.

As for the video itself, I haven't seen any of the actual footage, but from what I can tell it will be awesome! It's got a very surreal and whimsical feeling to it. The director had an awesome vision and I think it realized very well.

Well, I best get back to cd shipping. I'm sorry if you're waiting on an order! I'm doing the best I can.

WOW. good story! haha. cool ranch was my favorite too. as far as booking fees go, it depends on what the show was, and then, of course, there's getting to chicago. if i could GET there, the fee wouldn't be SO significant, but i'd imagine the combined costs would be a little more annoying :(
